DIY Spotted String Necklace

What you will need:

·      Old t-shirt (cotton preferably)
·      Scissors
·      Bleach
·      Old towel
·      Hanger
·      Liquid laundry detergent

1. Cut off the top of the t-shirt right underneath the bottom of the sleeves. The bottom of the shirt should now resemble, well, a circle. Cut the bottom hem of the shirt off.

2. Now, cut the bottom half of the shirt into ½” strips all the way up but stopping about ½” from the top of the shirt. Don’t worry about making each strip exactly ½” or perfectly straight, it doesn’t matter.

3. Take the now shredded shirt and stretch it through your hands going around the entire circle. This should make the strips curl so that they look circular instead of freshly cut.

4. Take the hem of the shirt that you cut off and tie it around the ½” space you left uncut. Trim the extra hem off of the tied part so it’s just a small knot. This will keep the necklace in place when you wear it instead of it flying everywhere.

5. Put an old towel down and lay the necklace over it. Sprinkle bleach on the necklace. You should start to see little orange/white dots appear. Flip it over and do the other side.

6. Hand wash the necklace in warm water in a sink with liquid laundry detergent. Be very careful when washing it so the strings don’t knot together.

7. Hang the necklace on a hanger to dry over night and you’re done! Rock this easy DIY with any outfit and hit the streets in style.
